Polishing — questions we get a lot
How long does a polish take?
A single-stage paint correction usually takes most of a day (6–8 hours). Multi-stage corrections — for older, oxidised or heavily marked paint — can stretch to 1–3 days depending on the panel count and depth of defects. We always confirm the realistic timeframe after a quick consultation.
What's the difference between single-stage and multi-stage polishing?
Single-stage uses one cutting + polishing compound and removes light swirl marks, holograms and minor scratches — typical for newer cars in decent condition. Multi-stage adds dedicated cut and finish steps with different pads and compounds, refining the paint to a deeper, mirror-like gloss and removing deeper defects.
Will polishing remove all scratches?
Surface-level marks (swirls, water spots, fine scratches you can't feel with a fingernail) — yes. Deeper scratches that have cut through the clear coat into the colour layer cannot be polished out; only refinishing or spot-repair can fix those. We measure paint thickness before starting so we know exactly how much we can safely correct.
How long does the result last?
The optical correction itself is permanent — until something new scratches the paint again. To protect the finish we recommend either a premium wax (3–6 months), a sealant (8–12 months) or a ceramic coating (1–5 years).
Do I need to wait before washing the car?
If you only had the polish, you can wash it the same week — use a touchless or two-bucket hand wash. If we applied a coating or wax on top, follow the 7-day care guide we hand you at pick-up.
Is there a guarantee?
We guarantee the workmanship — proper pad/compound selection, no burnt edges, even finish. We can't guarantee a "factory-new" look on every car: the final result depends on the existing paint thickness, age, prior repairs and clear-coat health. We always show you what to expect during the pre-work walkaround.
